Announcement for Nigerian Nationals Travelling to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)

September 15, 2026

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO NIGERIAN STUDENTS & NATIONALS

The Hausawa Students Association Türkiye (HSAT) – Dalibai Hausawan Turkiyya wishes to inform our members and the wider Nigerian community of an important update concerning travel to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

According to an announcement by the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Abuja, the TRNC will introduce an e-Visa system for Nigerian nationals effective 16 September 2026.

Under the new procedure, Nigerian nationals travelling to the TRNC must first apply for a TRNC e-Visa and obtain an e-Visa number. After receiving the e-Visa number, travellers departing from Nigeria are required to apply for a Turkish Transit Visa through the Sefa Visa Center in Abuja and/or Lagos.

⚠️ Important: Obtaining a TRNC e-Visa does not guarantee the issuance of a Turkish Transit Visa.

For further information and TRNC e-Visa applications:

Official TRNC e-Visa Portal

We encourage all affected students and travellers to complete the necessary procedures in good time and rely on official sources for further updates.

🇳🇬 Nigerian Students Association Türkiye (NiSA)

OFFICIAL PUBLIC NOTICE

Important Update for Nigerian Graduates in Türkiye

The Nigerian Students Association Türkiye (NiSA) is pleased to inform Nigerian students and graduates of an important development regarding post-graduation residence permits in Türkiye.

Following a recent directive issued by the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in coordination with the Presidency of Migration Management, eligible international graduates may now benefit from an additional one (1) year of short-term residence permit, increasing the maximum post-graduation residence period from one year to two years.

Eligibility

This opportunity is available to graduates who:

* Successfully completed a higher education programme in Türkiye.
* Applied for their initial post-graduation residence permit within six (6) months of graduation.
* Currently hold the one-year graduate residence permit or whose permit expired within the last 90 days.
* Continue to meet the legal requirements under Law No. 6458 on Foreigners and International Protection.

This policy offers graduates more time to pursue employment opportunities, further their education, engage in research, or make a smoother transition into professional life in Türkiye.

The Nigerian Students Association Türkiye encourages all eligible Nigerian graduates to take advantage of this opportunity and ensure their applications are submitted within the prescribed timelines.

Should you require guidance or assistance regarding the application process, please do not hesitate to contact the Association.
